Monday Morning Marketing Quote: The Sight Of Action

Today’s edition of Monday Morning Quote discusses marketing wisdom from the book, A Pattern Language: Towns, Buildings, Construction. Yes, this is a book about the architecture and design, but this quote is extremely relevant to your marketing efforts. Have a great week!

Nice quote, Tom, and great follow-up application. Quick question, is the quote “The Sight of action…” or is it, “The site of action…”? Does the quote mean that seeing others take action makes you want to take action yourself, or is it that being in the place of action makes you want to take that action – like walking through the kitchen makes you want to eat a snack? I could see either applying to an architectural book.

    Thanks.

Thanks, Jeff. The quote is, “The sight of action is an incentive for action.” Meaning that seeing others take action prompts you to take action yourself.

Sorry for not being clear ;)

Great quote, Tom. I can see this being applied in so many ways from a business perspective – from setting an example for employees, to in-store marketing ideas like demonstrations, tastings, etc. You could build an entire marketing strategy on this philosophy!

Thanks for reminding me of the importance of architecture. Iconic buildings and/or consistent styling characteristics deliver powerful subliminal brand messages. Michele makes a good point too: that look/feel should carry through in human terms too. Another great quote.
